Our passion for gardening never wanes,
Even when it ends in frozen remains.
Who are we, these stubborn souls?
Trapped in nature’s whims and goals.
Will we ever learn, ever stop this endeavor?
Unlikely, for we’re gardeners forever.
So we dance with the seasons, year after year,
Watching our plants grow, freeze, disappear.
For in our hearts, a love for this art,
That even 15 degrees cannot tear apart.
So let us laugh, and let us grieve,
For our garden’s fate, we can’t conceive.
But with every loss, we’ll risk again
And pray that the only plants that in the future perish
Will be not in our gardens, but in the gardens of friends we cherish.
